EDU 777 - Learning Specialist/Instructional Designer Reflection

 

We are at the midpoint of our proposal presentations and taking some time to reflect is always important as you decide how you will proceed with the next steps of your journey. My proposal consists of obtaining more laptops for our school via Donors Choose and teaching other staff how to start projects too. The process thus far has been educational for me, especially learning about how much money our school allocates for technology and how Chicago Public Schools is attempting to lessen the equity gap for technology tools with their hardship index.

I'm still excited about my project and would like to launch for the holiday season, as I think more people are generous and would want to donate funds for my project. Thus far the challenges that I have anticipated have not arrived, as I have not launched the project on the fundraising website yet. My largest concern is that it will go unfunded and other teachers will not want to attempt it. 

In my building we do have Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers in digital media and gaming. I would think they are experts in their respective technology fields, and of course we have our technology coordinators that help with technical issues in our building. I am looking forward in helping take on some small leadership role in increasing the utilization of technology at my school and to increase students' access to technology.
